Travel in Brazil: São Paulo (SP), 2005

SÃO PAULO (SP)

May 2005. I was invited by a friend to visit her and her family in Guarulhos, a city close to São Paulo.
Most foreigners know Guarulhos for its international airport.
I got to know a bit more of São Paulo, a little of Santos and São Vicente.
One the final day, my friend and her family were organizing a workshop for those who were interested to make eye masks, for the Gay Pride that was held that day. I could not help them, I took the opportunity to enter the famous MASP Museum, and  to discover the long Avenida Paulista, flanked by a large number of skyscrapers.
The picture shows one of the skyscrapers, and mirrors the skyscrapers and the other side of the avenida.

Travel in Brazil: Porto de Galinhas (PE), 2005

PORTO DE GALINHAS (PE)

In February 2005, I was invited to join a friend to visit the state of Pernambuco.
We spent almost one week in the cities of Recife and Olinda, enjoying the carnival festivities there.
The final day was spent at the paradisical beach of Porto de Galinhas, about 50 km south of Recife.
On that warm day, we had to take the bus in the center of Recife, the bus ride took two hours.
The bus was very crowded, and so was the beach. Full of carnival goers, who took a rest.
Beach and carnival, carnival and beach, an ideal combination.

Travel in Brazil: Recife (PE), 2005

RECIFE (PE)

In February 2005, I was invited to join a friend to visit the state of Pernambuco.
We went by bus, a travel that lasted more than thirty hours.
Nevertheless, the bus travel was an unforgettable experience: for me it was the first time to travel by bus more than seven hours (Nijmegen -London), and to witness the breathtaking Bahian landscape. Lush green, mountainous, sometimes arid, it seemed for me that the landscape was changing every kilometer.
We stayed in Recife during carnival. A multicultural carnival, with elements from African, European, and indian origin.
The picture shows a man in original and very colorful maracatu outfit. Even the dark sunglasses make part of it.

Belo Horizonte (MG) 2004 – Present

BELO HORIZONTE (MG)

Since December 2004, I live in Belo Horizonte, capital of the state of Minas Gerais.
Founded at the end of the 19th century, the planned city was about to host several tens of thousands of people.
At present more than two million people live in Belo Horizonte.

Mangabeiras Park is located in the south, to the Serra do Curral. From there, one may enjoy a breathtaking view of the city of Belo Horizonte, and enjoy colorful views of the sunset.
