005. Kombi
FEBRUARY 2005: Kombi
Come with the Kombi! That would be an attractive slogan, for a ride in this Volkswagen van. However, this type of transport is gradually disappearing in Brazil; they are still in use, mainly in Northeast Brazil. These vans are, despite the lack of comfort, essential for supplementary (public) transport: they reach locations that are not attended by regular bus services. In 2005, I regularly had traveled by these kombis in Pernambuco. Also after 2005, I had made use of these vans: in Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and various cities in the state of Minas Gerais.
