JUNE 2005: Immense
Foz do Iguaçu is not only famous for the waterfalls, but also for the immense hydro-electric power station, which is located partly on Paraguayan, and partly on Brazilian soil. Until the inauguration of the Three Gorges Dam in China, Itaipu was the largest in the world. A free bus tour guides you along the huge turbines, which provide approximately ninety percent of the Paraguayan and about twenty percent of the Brazilian energy need.
