135. Praia do Forte sunset
APRIL 2007: Praia do Forte sunset
This picture was taken at Praia do Forte, located at the northern coast of Santa Catarina Island. The little beach is only a few hundred meters away from the fortress São José de Ponta Grossa, at about thirty km from the city of Florianópolis. The colorful sunset show already had started in the final moments of our visit of the fortress, and continued during the visit of the beach. Initially, the sky colored light red and pink, but with time the color tones intensified. As the sun was setting behind the mountains, a narrow cloud layer joust about the mountain peaks was sun-painted in gold. Some higher clouds became pinkish red to deep red, against a purple sky. Without doubt, we had witnessed an unforgettable sunset that day.
