353: Reflections
In October 2012, I was invited to give a lecture about my PhD research at a private university in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, a small city in the state of Espírito Santo. It already had given this lecture in Dutch and in English, but it was new for me to give it in Portuguese, which was quite hard for me. Since I had taken a few days off at the language school I was teaching, I took the opportunity to have a short stay in a very popular beach resort: Guarapari. I took a cheap hotel in Nova Guarapari, and took a bus to nearby Guarapari, where the hotels and hostels are far more expensive. I spent the entire day along the beautiful beaches, took some refreshing açai and ate a delicious pizza. When the sun as about to set, I was at Morro Beach. At low tide, the tall buildings that line the beach were reflected on the wet beach. That gave me much inspiration for a large series of photographs.
