During my ten years in Belo Horizonte, I’ve spent a lot of time in Parque Municipal, the century-old city park in the heart of the capital of Minas Gerais. I was often found in the butterfly garden, in order to photograph the colorful flowers and the graciously hovering butterflies. Or I was sitting along the pond, observing the waterbirds and the people passing by. Sometimes, I sat on a bench, reading a book. On such an occasion, a big black-and-white approached me and jumped on the bench. He strided towards me and settled himself down next to me. He allowed me to stroke his head and ears. Obviously, one of his ears had a big hole in the middle. I was wondering about what might have caused this big hole, but I still have no clear explanation.

218. Benches
NOVEMBER 2009: Benches
Parque Vaca Brava (Mad Cow) is located in Goiania, capital of Goiás state. The name refers to one of the three former farms on whose estate the city of Goiânia was erected, early 20th century. The eight-hectare park consists of natural, native vegetation and a large lake. Many local residents regularly jog their rounds on the one-kilometer-long cooper trail along the lake. A large fountain is one of the principal attractions of Vaca Brava. The two light green banks on the photo, probably designed to be almost invisible in the park landscape had attacked me. By the way, the official name for the park is Parque Sulivan Silvestre.
